They're back! I first spotted a momma Merganser with 8 — no, 9 ducklings above the Brassworks dam on May 27. A neighbor saw about 7 ducklings on the river below the dam a few days later, which might have been the same family. Then the following week a whole lotta rain turned the river into a swift torrent, and I wondered where the family ended up. Did they go over the next dam downstream? Maybe not — this could be them, mom with 5 youngsters left. Click the picture above for more shots.
